President's Letter
INTRODUCING>>>>>>>>JASON WALLACE ZL2FT
I was born in Tauranga in the mid 70's and moved to Wanganui in late 1988 with my parents.
I had an interest in radio from a very young age, and enjoyed listening to shortwave radio in the 80's.
Also palyed around with CB Radio from 1988 till about 2002 , (but still monitor the bands).
Joined Branch 48 back in early 2002 when i became licenced as a limited call op then did the 5 wpm (before it was dropped as a requirement) to upgrade to the full licence which granted me access to the HF bands and i have never looked back.
I currently work in the retail sector (5yrs now) and that keeps me very busy selling whiteware and TV's etc.
My current activity in ham radio is broad but mainly on the HF bands, contesting, Dx'ing , utility listening, SSB , Digital Modes and QRP work.
Some of the digital modes that i enjoy are JT65, WSPR, PSK31, ROS, OLIVIA, OPERA, and sometimes RTTY. (and more are being developed all the time).
We welcome all visitors to the club and club meetings and hope to encourage new members to join the club and join in on this great hobbie.
Good DX to all and 73's from
